Reawakening: Primordial Dragon with Limitless Mana - Chapter 151: Whispers
Chapter 151: Whispers
It was strange—despite the place Peri was, Hades never felt any fluctuation in her emotions.
At the moment, she stood before the very being who had haunted her nights for far too long. The one who had almost torn her away from her mother forever.
Samarella. The ever-fuming Primordial Dragon of Peace.
But this time, Peri didn’t feel fear. She stood tall, facing those piercing blue eyes with confidence.
“Not trying to torment me anymore? What happened to all that anger?” she asked, her voice laced with provocation. In truth, frustration churned inside her.
Peri had never feared anything in her life—yet this entity had once made her dread the simple act of closing her eyes.
Every night she prayed to God, begging that when she opened them again, she would still wake in the same room.
So yes, there was frustration. A lot of it.
Samarella growled, “You’ve grown quite cocky. Do you really think I can’t kill you, just because you’ve formed a deeper bond with that sinful beast?”
Peri’s gaze was cold, unflinching. “No. You can’t. Not anymore. Not without my permission. And I won’t allow it.”
Her words rang with conviction, her eyes never leaving the dragon’s.
Samarella fell silent for a moment.
Thud Thud
She stepped closer, her figure shifting until the shadows peeled away, revealing a woman with long blue hair.
Peri found herself staring at… herself. The same features, but with long flowing hair instead of her short yellow locks, and eyes glowing a piercing blue.
Hovering just above the ground, Samarella asked, “The man you’ve given yourself to… is he truly worthy of your trust?”
She heaved a sigh and remained silent. She didn’t even feel the need to answer.
Samarella’s voice pressed on, sharp as a blade. “In the past, he stole the wives of his own brothers. He slaughtered the children of his comrades, just to provoke them.”
Peri scoffed. “Yes, I’ll trust you.”
Her sarcasm didn’t draw any reaction. Samarella continued, “He killed not for survival, but for chaos itself. If you doubt me, go and ask him. Ask if I lie. Ask if he didn’t murder those close to his comrades just to fan the flames and drag the world into chaos again.”
Peri fell silent.
She couldn’t deny she wanted to know the truth. Curiosity tugged at her, but it didn’t matter. Whether Samarella spoke truth or lies, her perception of Hades wouldn’t change.
Hades might carry the blood of Zerathos, but that did not make him evil. It did not mean he sought chaos.
Samarella drew closer but Peri didn’t move. She refused to show fear.
The older one raised her head and rested it on Peri’s head before relaying, “I am ready to grant you my powers. Whenever you like. But only if you promise to kill that creature who has taken a new form.”
Peri growled before swatting her hand away, “Shove that power up your ass. I don’t need you.” She started walking away but she couldn’t ignore what Samarella added,
“There would come a time when you would doubt what he has shown you until now. You will doubt whether you actually knew him. At that time, turn to me. I will relay my assistance.”
…..
Luna and Hades hurried toward the medical room.
Inside, the air was heavy with tension.
Argon and Kaelith stood nearby, their faces tight with worry.
Hades turned his gaze to the bed.
Lava rocks were stacked beneath Averis’s waist. Heated pads were tied around her hands and feet. A thick cloth lay across her forehead, and a lava tube had been placed in her mouth.
With so much heat, a normal human would have been roasted alive.
Yet Averis’s face remained pale, her lips ghostly white. She wasn’t warming up at all.
“What’s her condition?” Hades asked one of the medics.
The woman answered quickly, “At first she refused to cooperate. We thought this much heat would be enough to restore her body temperature. But now… she’s resisting the medicine. It’s damaging her core even more.”
Luna’s eyes widened in shock, but Hades remained calm. He had already sensed it—Averis no longer wanted to live.
Argon’s eyes grew misty. He had only felt this helpless once before: the day he lost his grandchild. And now, that same helplessness was crushing him again… as he stood on the verge of losing someone just as precious.
Kaelith stood in silence, helpless. She had never met anyone so stubborn—someone who resisted life itself after just one rejection. Couldn’t Averis simply rise and try again? Was she truly so emotionally weak?
Meanwhile, Luna’s voice brushed against Hades’s mind through their bond.
[I can heal her, Hades. She won’t be able to resist me.]
Hades blinked, startled.
[Her core is damaged, Luna.]
[I know,] she replied calmly. [But that doesn’t matter. I can repair her body, bring it back to a state where she’ll no longer be in danger.]
Hades was ready to tell her to do it. He wanted to save Averis—not only out of guilt, but also because Argon had stood by them.
But before he could speak, Luna’s next words stopped him cold.
[But to do it, I’d have to let go of my restraint… and reveal my true self.]
Hades froze, his eyes widening slightly.
Her true self.
That was a dangerous line to cross. Even his mother had warned him never to let the world know that Luna was a phoenix. If word spread, it would give their enemies two reasons to strike at them.
He hesitated for a moment, weighing the risk. Then he sent back firmly,
[Let me try something first.]
Turning to the medic at Averis’s side, Hades said, “Step back. I need space. I’ll try something myself.”
Though confused, the woman quickly obeyed.
Hades crouched by Averis’s face and told the medic quietly, “When I give the signal, raise the heat of the pads and pour the lava fluid down her throat. She won’t resist this time.”
The medic gave a quick nod. Everyone readied themselves.
Kaelith and the others exchanged puzzled glances. They assumed Hades had some sort of medical technique he planned to use.
But instead, Hades cupped his hands around Averis’s ear and whispered something only she could hear.
No one else caught his words.
When he finished, he gave the signal.
The medics moved swiftly—raising the pads’ heat, warming the stones, and letting the lava extract flow.
Argon held his breath, his eyes fixed on his grandchild as silent prayers trembled in his chest.
And then, to everyone’s shock—
“She’s not resisting anymore… no, she’s actually… she’s willingly absorbing the heat!”
