Reawakening: I Can Absorb Infinite Skills - Chapter 109: Elixir and Breakthroughs
Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Elixir and Breakthroughs
Nyra and Rael settled into cultivation while Arden sat nearby, watching them with a quiet smile.
Their breathing slowed, their energy circling as they pulled in aether. Nyra sighed softly when she opened her eyes.
“I can feel it,” she said. “So close to breaking through… but it won’t come.”
Rael nodded, frustrated. “Same here.”
Arden tilted his head, thinking. “Then maybe it’s time we visit Boro. It’s been about ten days. Maybe the elixir will help.”
Both looked at him, surprise flickering into hope.
“Worth a try,” Rael said.
Nyra’s tired expression brightened. “Then let’s go.”
With that, they left the hall together, the thought of progress and the weight of Arden’s new technique still lingering in their minds.
The Three Mugs Bar was noisier than usual, but Arden and his party didn’t even step through the doors before they caught sight of Boro outside.
The man was busy speaking with a few rough-looking traders, his arms folded, his presence commanding enough that no one dared raise their tone.
The moment Boro spotted Arden and the others, his face broke into a wide grin.
“You’ve come at just the right time,” he called out, dismissing his men with a flick of his hand. “My boys just returned with what you’ve been waiting for.”
Arden’s steps quickened, curiosity lighting his face. “The elixir is ready More efficient than I thought.”
Boro chuckled as he waved them toward the bar. “I told you before, didn’t I? When I move, things get done. Processing the Moonveil Blossom is a tricky thing, but with the right people and the right… persuasion, it’s not so hard. Come, let’s sit.”
Inside, the noise dulled. He led them to the private backroom where the scent of aged wood mixed with faint herbs still clinging to the crates.
On the low table, a wooden box rested, and Boro tapped it with the pride of a merchant showing off a priceless treasure.
“I had them portion it into smaller vials,” Boro explained as he opened the box, revealing rows of clear glass filled with liquid that shimmered faintly under the lantern light. “More practical for a party like yours. No sense in one of you swallowing everything at once while the others wait empty-handed.”
Arden leaned in, his eyes narrowing at the soft glow inside the vials.
He didn’t touch them at once, instead studying the faint pulse of energy within. Then he smiled, glancing up.
“You really thought ahead. This’ll suit us perfectly. Nyra and Rael have been stuck on the edge of a breakthrough for days now. With this, I’m sure they’ll get through.”
Boro let out a booming laugh, slapping his thigh. “Young ones with that much fire always bring joy to an old man’s heart. Don’t worry, this brew will do its work. If they’ve got the will to climb, this will be the ladder.”
At his signal, one of his men carefully carried the box closer and laid it between Arden and Boro. The merchant gestured toward it with a nod.
“Go on then. It’s yours.”
Arden finally reached out, lifting one vial. The liquid swirled gently inside, releasing a cool, refreshing aura. He turned it once in his hand, then tucked it back into the box with a small grin.
“My thanks, Boro. You’ve done more than enough.”
The older man waved dismissively. “Save your thanks for when you bring more stories back. The way you lot stir this town, it’s worth more than coin.”
They exchanged farewells, and soon Arden and his party were stepping back into the sunlight. The box of vials rested safely in his grasp, and Nyra was already eyeing it with thinly veiled impatience.
“Don’t stare too hard,” Arden teased as he caught her expression. “It won’t vanish if you blink.”
She clicked her tongue and looked away, pretending not to care, though Rael smirked at her.
Zephyra padded alongside Arden, brushing her shoulder lightly against his arm, sharing in the faint pride he felt through their bond.
For now, their weapons from Belric were still a few days away. That meant cultivation would be their focus, and with the elixirs in hand, waiting seemed foolish. The richer aether of the Outlands and ruins couldn’t be denied, but here in Greyhold, they had access to something just as valuable, the cultivation chamber reserved for the nobles.
Arden secured permission easily enough, the guards at the chamber bowing their heads without fuss. The four of them stepped inside, and at once the difference was clear. The air was thick with aether, far denser than what drifted outside. The walls glowed faintly where ancient runes had been carved, pulsing softly as though drawing invisible threads of energy and weaving them through the room.
Arden gave the chamber a slow glance.
There were fewer people here than in the training hall, but every person sat in quiet focus, their breathing steady, their bodies surrounded by faint aether light.
“No wonder Greyhold stands out among towns,” he muttered. “A chamber like this is worth more than armies.”
Rael and Nyra were already settling down with crossed legs, their eagerness plain. Arden pulled two vials from the box and handed them over.
“Don’t waste time. Drink.”
Nyra didn’t hesitate, tilting hers back in one go. Rael followed a moment later. Immediately, both of them stiffened, their eyes widening as the rush of purified aether surged through their bodies. Their cores drank hungrily, their veins glowing faintly as energy flowed into every channel.
Arden stepped back, arms folded, watching them with a faint smile. “Good. Just focus. Let it carry you forward.”
Zephyra curled by his side, her fur bristling faintly in the thick aether, though she made no move to draw it in. Her bond tied her more to Arden’s life energy than the world’s flow, and she seemed content to rest her head, eyes half-lidded as she shared his calm.
The pull of aether around Nyra and Rael grew heavier, so much that even the other cultivators in the chamber began to notice. Some frowned, shifting uncomfortably at the sudden imbalance. Arden ignored their stares.
Minutes stretched, the hum of energy filling the chamber until at last Nyra’s core flared, a brilliant pulse racing through her body. She let out a sharp breath, opening her eyes with a grin.
“Finally. Vein Bloom Realm.” She smirked and glanced at Rael. “Try to keep up.”
He ignored her jab, his focus unshaken. Sweat beaded his brow, his fists tightening on his knees. Then, only a few breaths later, his aura surged as well, breaking through with a deep thrum that shook the air. His eyes opened, clear and sharp, and he exhaled slowly.
“Done.”
Nyra groaned. “You couldn’t even let me enjoy the moment?”
Rael only chuckled and closed his eyes again, returning to stabilize his new realm. Nyra clicked her tongue but followed suit, both of them sitting in deep focus as the lingering effects of the elixir worked through their veins.
Arden let the corner of his mouth lift. “Good. Both of you pushed through. Don’t stop here.”
When the flow finally slowed and the chamber’s air calmed, they rose together. The other cultivators eyed them with quiet irritation, but no one dared speak up.
The three left the chamber without fuss, the box of vials still in Arden’s hand though two were gone.
Outside, Nyra stretched with a satisfied sigh. “That felt good. Stronger already.”
Rael only nodded, his expression calm, though the steadiness in his eyes showed the depth of his breakthrough.
Arden glanced at both of them, his voice steady. “Belric will have our weapons in a few days. Until then, keep this momentum. Don’t waste what you’ve gained today.”
They agreed without hesitation. And though the path ahead promised more battles and more trials, for now, Arden allowed himself a small measure of pride as he walked beside them.
